Potential delays in NYC, DC and Philadelphia due to the Papal visit

Dear Valued Customer,

Please be advised that the Pope’s visit this week will cause significant delays and road closures in the Washington D.C., NYC and Philadelphia areas. Listed below are the dates and times for many of the activities surrounding this visit. We will keep you up to date, as always, on a case by case basis with each job that may be impacted.  If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out and anyone here in our customer service department will gladly assist.  The authorities have warned that if you are not attending a papal event, you are advised not to travel into these areas during the visit. For those who must travel into and out of these areas, be patient and be prepared with a travel plan.   State officials are anticipating two million extra visitors while Pope Francis is in the region.  Deliveries to these areas during the time of the visit will be on case by case basis.

NGL's Brampton, Canada DC Closure

NGL’s Brampton, Canada DC will be closing at 1:30pm EST today due to the major winter storm the Toronto and surrounding area is experiencing. We will resume regular operational hours on Tuesday at 9:30am EST.

If possible, we recommend rescheduling part pulls for tomorrow to avoid major delays, however, after hours agents are currently on the road so they will be able to pull parts if necessary.

Winter Storm Linus

American Airlines has announced an Embargo issued for the Midwest and Northeast U.S. Due to Winter Storm Linus, an embargo is in place for live animals, high value and perishable shipments on American Airlines, transiting from, to or though:

  • Chicago (ORD)
  • Boston (BOS)
  • Hartford (BDL)
  • Newark (EWR)
  • New York LaGuardia (LGA)
  • New York Kennedy (JFK)

Beginning: Sun. Feb. 01 at 7:00 p.m. CST
Ending: Mon. Feb. 02 at 11:59 p.m. CST

United Cargo has also implemented restrictions in three New York area airports as well as Chicago, as detailed below: 

  • All restrictions apply from 12:01 a.m. EST Monday, February 2 through 09:00 a.m. CST Tuesday, February 3. 
  • Restrictions apply to the acceptance at, transfer through and termination at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) of the following products/commodities:
    • All perishable shipments
    • All TempControl shipments
    • All PetSafe shipments
    • All QuickPak and QuickPak International shipments
    • All TrustUA shipments
    • All UASecure shipments
  • Restrictions apply to the acceptance at, transfer through and termination at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) of the following products:
    • All PetSafe shipments
    • All QuickPak and QuickPak International shipments  
  • Only non-perishable GEN shipments will be accepted as origin, destination or transfer freight at (ORD). Restrictions apply to the origin, destination or transfer of EXP, QuickPak, QuickPak International, TempControl, PetSafe, UASecure, TrustUA and all perishable shipments.

NE Winter Storm Juno Update

Today’s flights from NYC airports (JFK, LGA) are still canceled at this time.  Some flights are moving out of PHL but on a very limited basis.  State of emergency has been lifted in NY, NJ and most of CT.  We can expect some residual delays on local deliveries as roads are cleared.  Anticipate steady improvement throughout the day today and tomorrow.

Flights from New England airports such as BOS and PWM are all canceled today and states of emergency are still in effect as well as travel bans.

Delta Cargo Closures

Delta Cargo has suspended operations at the following stations beginning at 10:00pm EST, Monday, January 26, 2015, with plans to re-open at noon on Wednesday, January 28. 

  • Albany, NY (ALB)
  • Boston, MA (BOS)
  • Hartford, CT (BDL)
  • Newark, NJ (EWR)
  • New York City, NY (JFK)
  • New York City, NY (LGA)
  • Philadelphia, PA (PHL)
  • Providence, RI (PVD)

Additionally, during this time, there will be an embargo on Live Animal and Human Remains shipments for all flights that originate, transfer through or terminate in the region. Please see deltacargo.com for the complete list of cities affected.

Winter Storm Juno Update

Our contingency plans are in effect, as we are monitoring Winter Storm Juno closely to provide the best service possible within the affected areas.  Please contact our Global Control Center at 800-938-1809 with shipment needs so that we may allocate resources according to priority level, with life-threatening situations being first.

So far, nearly 7,500 flights have been canceled for the period stretching from Monday through Wednesday according to flight-tracking service FlightAware.

Winter Storm Juno - State of Emergencies

A state of emergency has been issued in Connecticut with a travel ban as of 9:00 pm EST. 

A state of emergency for Down state NY as of 11:00 pm EST tonight has also been issued, which includes mandatory travel ban. 

New Jersey & Massachusetts have also issued state of emergencies.

Winter Storm Juno

NGL is monitoring Winter Storm Juno, which threatens to become a major snowstorm in the Northeast today through Wednesday with the potential for blizzard conditions and more than 2 feet of snow. As winter weather conditions develop, there is a possibility that scheduled flight service may be disrupted (delayed, diverted, and/or canceled) throughout the Northeast. Approximately 3,500 flights have been canceled thus far as airlines are working to move their equipment out of the affected areas.
